New Worship Pastor, Victor Huang comes to Cypress Church from Victory Fellowship in Torrance where he served as the Associate Pastor of Worship. Victor has spent over 11 years playing with and leading various worship teams and believes that his experience and expertise are a great fit for the vision and goals of our church and its network of branches.
Victor graduated in 2011 from The Ohio State University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree with a specialty in Photography. He went on to attend Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary receiving a Masters of Arts degree in Christian Education with a Worship Concentration in 2014.
His previous experience includes that of teacher/leader in the Columbus Chinese Christian Church in Columbus, Ohio where he coordinated worship in the English Service. He has also discipled and trained musicians to lead worship while training new musicians for worship teams. Victor’s experience in leading worship includes doing so for children, Junior High, Youth, College, and Young Adult Ministries.
Victor’s skills include Directing, Voice, Acoustic Guitar, Piano, Keys, Bass Guitar, Drum Set, Reading/Composing Music Finale, Sound Engineering, as well as a host of computer programs for the sound/worship world.
Victor shares: “What draws me to this position is the opportunity to care for the worship team holistically. I place strong importance on equipping the church and its volunteers musically and in their understanding of what the Bible says about worship through discipleship, modeling and teaching. This is key in fostering a healthy culture of worship and developing a strong unified lay leadership to serve in the local body.
My passion also lies in creating an environment where creative people can thrive. My experience as a photographer and videographer in art school taught me that worship can be expressed through other mediums. I am excited for the opportunity to grow and use my experience as an artist to work alongside others for the creative direction of the worship service through visuals, song writing, and other mediums. I believe that Cypress Church is a place that I can serve effectively and where God can use me to further His kingdom.”
We look forward to Victor’s leading of worship throughout our network of campuses.
Pastor of Elementary Children
Lorena joined our staff team in June 2016. Her first adventure was attending Hume Lake with our students just one week later and she had a ball. She lead us on a trek through Cave Quest searching for the light of the world, our summer Vacation Bible School program. And she is still running, leading, and growing our kids' ministry focusing on grades 1 through 6.
I graduated from the University of Illinois with a B. S. degree in Personnel Management with a subsequent Masters Degree in Business Administration from University of California, Long Beach. I spent 4 years after college in the Army Ordnance Corps as a Nuclear Weapons Officer in Germany.
I worked forty years in the aerospace industry (Douglas/McDonnell Douglas/Rockwell/Northrop and Boeing) working mostly in Human Resources but also in Systems/Project Management which included a six month tour of duty working at Cape Canaveral on the Space Shuttle contract preparation team. Now I volunteer at Cypress Church as their Business Administrator.

I was born in Lakewood, CA and spent the first 5 years of my life I in northern CA on a farm. My mom, brother and I moved to Cypress when I was 6 and no, I haven't left yet! I went to Landell, Lexington, Cypress High, Cypress College and CSU Fullerton. I married my hunk'a burning love, Mark, in 1988. We have 2 kids, Paige who is 19 and is currently working on a designing degree at CSU Fullerton and Michael age 16 currently at Mater Dei. I worked for Mitsubishi Motors for approx 14 years, before being hired on at Cypress Church.

In the near-future, I hope to take cooking classes so I can get a lil' more creative with the family meals. I cherish the time I can spend with my busy family and just laugh! Front Row: Mike McKay (Lead Pastor), Bo Prum
All of us are stewards of the treasures to which we have been entrusted: our families, our gifts and talents, our funds, our friendships and our time, and for the elder board – the ministries of this church. Cypress Church is a true jewel, and we accept that stewardship humbly and soberly.
Your elders continue their work of overseeing and defining the goals (“Ends”) of the church, and are focusing on better ways to measure our progress toward fulfilling each of the five pillars of our Unique Call (i.e., Worship, Belong, Grow, Serve and Reach). We very much are blessed by our regular visits with members who are sick, hurting or in need, and appreciate the opportunity to pray with and for them.

To paraphrase 1 Timothy 6:17-19,
Do not trust in uncertain riches but in the living God, who gives us richly all things to enjoy; do good, be rich in good works, ready to give, willing to share, storing up for yourself a God foundation for the time to come, That you may lay hold on eternal life.
Your trustees are modeling this for us as they are continually watching over the maintenance of our facilities and the financial soundness of our church.
