This is Mike

Mike is our Lead Pastor and head of staff. He is also a great encourager and shepherd, helping us all reach forward to know God more. Mike is our main Bible teacher and he is very active in the City of Cypress. Some have called him the pastor of Cypress city.

Mike and his wife Kristi (his best friend) enjoy spending time with their kids and grandkids. Being “Papa” is one of his greatest joys!  Mike loves life and is so thankful to be serving the Lord.  Oh, and Mike really likes chocolate and Krispy Kreme donuts!!

Mike has been in full time ministry for over 35 years. He has served in four different churches, and Neighborhood Church is lucky that he is our longest-serving lead pastor so far. Mike first entered ministry as  a youth pastor, where he faithfully served children and teens for 20 years. Mike then helped start a young adult church that grew from 50 to 150 attendees in around 3 months. God then moved Mike to take a Lead Pastor position and he moved to Cypress in 2004.

Mike is a natural shepherd, caring for all people and seeking to love them with the grace, mercy and love of God. He is also a sought after communicator and teacher that uses creative methods to impart God’s truths. He writes a weekly blog that is picked up by local papers and has become a consistent weekly article all over Orange County.

Mike holds a BA in Speech Communication from San Diego State University and a Master of Divinity from Western Theological Seminary of Portland/San Jose. In 2019, he completed a Doctorate of Ministry from Biola University's Talbot Theological Seminary.

Mike is happily married to Kristi, a local kindergarten teacher. They have three married children and six energetic grandchildren.
